This was on the Bestseller list, which is the ONLY reason I borrowed it from the library to read。 It is religious for the holiday, although not over the time。 I just wish the animals either wore clothes on every page or didn't。 The optional clothes wearing bothered me。 This was on the Bestseller list, which is the ONLY reason I borrowed it from the library to read。 It is religious for the holiday, although not over the time。 I just wish the animals either wore clothes on every page or didn't。 The optional clothes wearing bothered me。 。。。more
Kathleen,
I like children's books。 I like religious stories。 I like talking animals。 I like sweet stories with lessons。 And although this book mixes all of them together, sorry to say I didn't like it。 It is rating is so radically different than the average, but this one just didn't work。Papa Bear explains to Little Cub all the great things about Easter, all the things Jesus did for us。 I guess it was too over the top, and too preachy。 I like children's books。 I like religious stories。 I like talking animals。 I like sweet stories with lessons。 And although this book mixes all of them together, sorry to say I didn't like it。 It is rating is so radically different than the average, but this one just didn't work。Papa Bear explains to Little Cub all the great things about Easter, all the things Jesus did for us。 I guess it was too over the top, and too preachy。 。。。more
Sarah Johnson,
Beautiful illustrations, but much too heavy on religion for me。 (Gift from my in-laws for my daughter。。。 doesn’t align with the beliefs of our household。) So take my rating 100% with that in mind。 Might be a great book for someone else。
Veronica Foley,
I love the questions and illustrations from this one!

This is a wonderful book about Easter。 It is clear and easy for a child to understand。 The art is also absolutely lovely。
Gabrielle Stoller,
I need this book。 I could also see giving this book to all of my friends。 What a beautiful book about the gift of Easter。What I especially appreciate is it doesn't bash things like Easter eggs or the Easter bunny。 Rather, the book uses them as examples of how we can see Jesus, how Easter was the Plan all along。 What a good reminder for us adults as well I need this book。 I could also see giving this book to all of my friends。 What a beautiful book about the gift of Easter。What I especially appreciate is it doesn't bash things like Easter eggs or the Easter bunny。 Rather, the book uses them as examples of how we can see Jesus, how Easter was the Plan all along。 What a good reminder for us adults as well 。。。more

A great book that becomes an even better conversation starter with your children to talk about God, Jesus, and Easter!

Another very cute book by Lisa Tawn Bergren。 I love the little insightful nuggets in her books from which all ages can take away。
Jenny Hartfelder,
I've really loved Bergren's "God Gave Us。。。" series-- God Gave Us Christmas is one of my all-time favorites。 However, I feel like she shyed away from the truth in God Gave Us Easter。 It was beautifully told as always, and points to God and His love, but the Cross is left out。 😢 I was disappointed。 I've really loved Bergren's "God Gave Us。。。" series-- God Gave Us Christmas is one of my all-time favorites。 However, I feel like she shyed away from the truth in God Gave Us Easter。 It was beautifully told as always, and points to God and His love, but the Cross is left out。 😢 I was disappointed。 。。。more

A Powerful Message for Children about the meaning of EasterHolidays are special celebrations and young children need to learn the importance of different holidays。 In GOD GAVE US EASTER, little cub and papa bear are speaking in the opening page。 The little cub loves Easter and papa tells her Easter is even better than Christmas。 Papa says, “Because on Christmas, we celebrate Jesus; birthday。 But on Easter, we remember we get to be with him forever。” Best-selling author Lisa Tawn Bergren has writ A Powerful Message for Children about the meaning of EasterHolidays are special celebrations and young children need to learn the importance of different holidays。 In GOD GAVE US EASTER, little cub and papa bear are speaking in the opening page。 The little cub loves Easter and papa tells her Easter is even better than Christmas。 Papa says, “Because on Christmas, we celebrate Jesus; birthday。 But on Easter, we remember we get to be with him forever。” Best-selling author Lisa Tawn Bergren has written deep spiritual messages yet simplified for young children。。 The words are combined with beautiful illustrations from Laura J。 Bryant。 Parents will be drawn to read this book over and over to your child。 I love the messages in this book and highly recommend GOD GAVE US EASTER。 。。。more

Genre: Religious Picture BookAward(s): NoneAudience: PreK-3rd GradeA。 This is a religious picture book because it is illustrated and speaks on a Christian holiday。B。 This book has beautiful colors that are Easter-themed。 There are pastel pinks, blues, and purples, with nothing harsh。 These colors fit the holiday discussed in the book。C。 I would use this as a read-aloud near Easter if I was working at a religious school。 It is very cute and touches on things children may not realize about easter。 Genre: Religious Picture BookAward(s): NoneAudience: PreK-3rd GradeA。 This is a religious picture book because it is illustrated and speaks on a Christian holiday。B。 This book has beautiful colors that are Easter-themed。 There are pastel pinks, blues, and purples, with nothing harsh。 These colors fit the holiday discussed in the book。C。 I would use this as a read-aloud near Easter if I was working at a religious school。 It is very cute and touches on things children may not realize about easter。D。 What does the cracking open of the eggs shell represent? I bought this book for 2 of our pre-school grandchildren with the intent to show them there is more to Easter than the Easter 'Bunny' as secular society prefers。 This little gem does that with pictures and gentle language geared toward them。 I bought this book for 2 of our pre-school grandchildren with the intent to show them there is more to Easter than the Easter 'Bunny' as secular society prefers。 This little gem does that with pictures and gentle language geared toward them。 。。。more

Luisa Knight,
I wanted to like this。 I thought the idea of trying to explain some "bigger" christian concepts to young children was a good one but the execution of it failed。 It was disjointed, and trying to be too clever it made it only confusing, with the parallels not always making sense。 I did like that it mentioned that while the Easter Bunny can remind us of surprises and gifts, it is God that gave us Easter。Ages: 3 - 7Cleanliness: Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny are mentioned。#easter #christian**Like I wanted to like this。 I thought the idea of trying to explain some "bigger" christian concepts to young children was a good one but the execution of it failed。 It was disjointed, and trying to be too clever it made it only confusing, with the parallels not always making sense。 I did like that it mentioned that while the Easter Bunny can remind us of surprises and gifts, it is God that gave us Easter。Ages: 3 - 7Cleanliness: Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny are mentioned。#easter #christian**Like my reviews? A child's level book about God and Easter, and the meaning of the two。 Very religion-heavy, and if that is the target audience, then this is a great book for reading to little ones。 A child's level book about God and Easter, and the meaning of the two。 Very religion-heavy, and if that is the target audience, then this is a great book for reading to little ones。 。。。more

Cute little book I cleaned while at work at the library today。 Neat little examples to illustrate the truth about Easter。 My only problem with it is that it gives the impression that God only came up with the plan for Jesus to die for our sins after Noah's descendants turned away from Him。 I'm not sure if that's what they were going for, but that's how it appeared。 Cute little book I cleaned while at work at the library today。 Neat little examples to illustrate the truth about Easter。 My only problem with it is that it gives the impression that God only came up with the plan for Jesus to die for our sins after Noah's descendants turned away from Him。 I'm not sure if that's what they were going for, but that's how it appeared。 。。。more
Trisha Daniel,
I liked the view point in which this book portrayed。 One thing I did find needed to be done was shortened sentences or have them spaced out。 I felt it was too much on the page and it could have the potential to take away from the storyline。
Christina Brandsma,
I really enjoyed this precious story! I love how this series tackles biblical topics accurately at a child's level of understanding。 I think it's great that the book doesn't bash the Easter Bunny or demonize fun childhood aspects of Easter, but gently reminds children that things like candy are only small gifts compared to the greatest gift of God。 This story was so precious! Lacey,
I appreciated the sentiment behind this book: trying to give kids the big picture idea of Easter。 However, it missed the mark for me and my kids。 Firstly, the concepts seemed too vague and difficult for my child to grasp。 Things like a tree demonstrating 'the root of Jesse' and a river running into an ocean to demonstrate life opening up into Heaven。 Secondly, the link from one concept to the next was very choppy and didn't form a continuous whole。 I loved the concept, but the execution was lack I appreciated the sentiment behind this book: trying to give kids the big picture idea of Easter。 However, it missed the mark for me and my kids。 Firstly, the concepts seemed too vague and difficult for my child to grasp。 Things like a tree demonstrating 'the root of Jesse' and a river running into an ocean to demonstrate life opening up into Heaven。 Secondly, the link from one concept to the next was very choppy and didn't form a continuous whole。 I loved the concept, but the execution was lacking。 If you want something like this, try the Jesus Storybook Bible (admittedly, it's a kids' Bible, not a picture book)。 Beautiful illustrations and a sweet family of characters though。 。。。more
